But Maran is above all an aesthete: he never sacrifices the expressive
potential of a product and its capability to stir up emotions, to functional or
commercial criteria. Designing an object means first of all taking care of its
“beauty”, a beauty that arises from a punctual analysis of proportions, from the
choice of suitable materials, from a thorough use of colours.
Design for
him means providing a service directed to the creation of new objects able to be
within everybody's reach. His job obviously gives priority to industrial design,
with an attentive glance to technological innovation and new materials: that’s
where his fondness for plastic comes from, for its ductility, its easiness to be
employed in industrial processes; but also – why not? - for traditional material
such as wood, revisited through new manufacturing and new shapes, trying to
create versatile and easy going objects, capable to adapt themselves quickly to
new private or public spaces.
Following his project during the whole productive and
distributive process, Maran is also involved in planning exhibition stands, in
which the product becomes the leading actor in a show conceived to stir up
emotions and wonders, in which the most important value is expressive
strength.
Nowadays he is working on new furniture objects that allow him
to link together his interest in new technologies and unceasing research of
fresh expressive shapes, to reinvent everyday life in a playfully and passionate
way.
